It's a great accomplishment. To me, it's not a gender issue, it's a funding issue. They are a great team but this record is every bit as much as a result of other schools not funding women's basketball like UCONN does.

UConn has a big budget, but so does UT, Stanford, etc... UConn gets the best players and has the best coach in the women's game. They win because of a number of those factors.
I agree that the competition pool is much more shallow in women's, but its not that deep in men's either.
How many teams can realisticly win the NCAA tourney in the men's game? Eight, maybe nine?
In the women's game the number shrinks to four or five.
